MADRID Views

Our Euro road trip started with Madrid as the starting city.

The city is rich in arts, culture, history, and live entertainment.

Madrid also boasts some of the liveliest nightlife in the world. Best time to travel Madrid would be May and October, in terms of weather and crowds.

What to Pack:  We did much research prior to our trip to Madrid, and to our surprise most of the sources said to avoid jeans, shorts, and sports shoes unless you want to look like a tourist. So we followed this advice. Once there however, we found that most of the people in Madrid are tourists. Also, locals do wear jeans, sneakers, shorts. We think you can wear whatever you want in Madrid.

Pack your comfortable wardrobe. You can keep few layers for day and night time.  Carry comfortable pair of shoes, as you would be walking a lot. Shopping is great in Madrid, so you might want to keep some space in your luggage for that, so pack light!!

Don’t forget to pack medications if you take any regularly. Do carry some basic medications as well.

Your basic daily need cosmetics and toiletries.

Don’t forget your chargers and batteries for phones, touch-pads, etc. Carry convertible charging plugs, and portable batteries for you phone (as you would be using maps and language translator a lot). Download language translator well in advance, as many locals would not understand English much.

Any credit cards, membership cards, lounge access cards, etc. Your id card, some cash, ticket printouts, hotel reservation prints.

And the most important carry your camera and memory cards to make your vacation a memorable one.

How to reach: It all depends on from where are you travelling from. Choose your transport accordingly. We landed at Madrid Airport, and rented a car to explore Europe.

Where to stay: Madrid is loaded with hotels. Choose which suits best with your budget. Try and stay near the main square.

Must See Places:  Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor, Mercado de San Miguel, Plaza de la Villa, Palacio Real, Plaza de Oriente, Gran Vía, Santiago Bernabéu Stadium (if you are a Real Madrid fan). Madrid is loaded with museums and parks.
